Ferdinand Emmanuel Edralin Marcos Senior was a Filipino politician who went on to serve as the president of the Philippines for twenty one years, from 1966 to 1986. Marcos’ father was lawyer and politician in his own right and he followed in his father’s footsteps both in terms of his choice of education as well as career choice.

Marcos was reelected twice, and in 1959 he was elected to the Philippine Senate. He was also the Liberal Party's vice-president from 1954 to 1961.In 1969 Marcos became the first Philippine president to win a second term.

Marcos was inaugurated on December 30, 1965. His first presidential term was notable for his decision to send troops into the fray of the Vietnam War, a move he had previously opposed as a Liberal Party senator. He also focused on construction projects and bolstering the country's rice production.

During his term, a lot of infrastructures were built for the benefit of the country and its people, such as, roads have been widened, Light-Rail Transit and Mono Rail Transits, hospitals with complete medical facilities free for all people, colleges which offers free education and many more which plays a very big part in the growth of our economy. These infrastructures are not only being enjoyed by the people during his term but even until now, we are still enjoying and benefiting all of it. That's how brilliant his mind, that he can even think of building something which could be a great help for all people in the present and in the future.

Marcos decreed martial law in 1972. While making domestic headway over time with infrastructure projects and harvesting, Marcos' administration also bolstered the military by huge numbers to protect the people and decrease crime rates. Even though, Marcos ran the country by Authoritarian regime, his term has been a remarkable one because of the peace and economy boost he brought to my country.

Philippines was before known to be one of the richest country's in the world. He uplifted Philippines' name by his mighty will-power and brilliant mind.

However, in every person's success, there will always be people who will feel jealous and angered to you. People who also wants to have the success you are having. People who are greedy to have more wealth and power. That's the start of Marcos' downfall, opposition starts to release black propaganda against him. But he still remained steadfast and fight for what he knew was right.

Throughout Marcos's childhood, the Philippines had been a colony (a foreign region under the control of another country) of the United States. However, the Philippines had been largely self-governing  and gained independence in 1946. This occurred only after fierce fighting in the country during World War II (1939–45), the international conflict for control of large areas of the world between the Axis (Germany, Japan, and Italy) and the Allies (United States, Great Britain, France, the Soviet Union, and others). During

World War II, the Philippines were invaded and occupied by the Japanese, while U.S. forces and Filipino resistance fighters fought to regain control of the country. Marcos emerged from World War II with a reputation as the greatest Filipino resistance leader of the war and the most decorated soldier in the U.S. armed forces.

Marcos got married to Imelda Romualdez in 1954. His wife Imelda also went on to become a politician. The couple had four children named - Ma Imelda Marcos, Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Irene Marcos and Aimee Marcos. Marcos died on 28 September 1989 in Honolulu after suffering from heart and kidney problems.

It hurts me the most because of the fact that all the good things that he did for our country were not published to Philippines Social Study textbooks, not being taught to our history class, not being included in Philippine journals of today. If have, it was already removed or burnt. Yes, all the traces of his sacrifices to our country has been erased by the opposition. It is really heartbreaking that a person's good deeds and great doings have not been given credits and recognition, instead, people who are against and greedy of the power keep altering the truth. Nevertheless, I am still proud of the person they are calling as dictator. In his time, our nation grew, became peaceful and everyone had a better opportunity.
