Shinzō Abe
1. Born in 21 September 1954 and is a Japanese politician serving as the 57th
Prime Minister of Japan and Leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) since
2012, and previously from 2006 to 2007.
2. Abe
comes from a politically prominent family and was elected by a special session
of the National Diet in September 2006, becoming at age 52 Japan's youngest
post-war prime minister, and the first to have been born after World War II.
3. He
is the third-longest serving Prime Minister in post-war Japan.
4. Abe resigned on 12 September 2007 for health reasons. He was
replaced by Yasuo Fukuda, the first in a series of five prime ministers who
failed to retain office for more than sixteen months.
5. Abe Shinzo, (born September 21, 1954, Tokyo, Japan),
Japanese politician, who twice was prime minister of Japan (2006–07 and 2012–
).
6. On becoming Prime Minister, Abe continued with fiscal
reforms started by Koizumi Junichiro. However, he took specific initiatives in
balancing the budget and he preferred to achieve that by curtailing expenditure
rather than by increasing tax.
7. In education, he wanted to promote nationalistic views. He
had all along supported such efforts. In March 2007, he tabled a bill that
aimed to promote nationalism and love for the country among the children.
8. He also tried to maintain good relation with foreign
countries and supported the country’s alliance with the United States. At the
same time, he took several steps to strengthen the country’s defense. Under
him, the Defense Agency was upgraded to full military status.
