Welfare efforts to light up Kg.Lumampau Sipitang,Sabah

PPB which is known as Penggerak Pendaulat Borneo was founded in 2015. I was informed by one of my friends about this society club. It is not easy for someone to sacrifices their leisure time for welfare society. It takes passion,spirit and fortitude to help other people. Based on what they did, PPB has proved that they are moving further of helping the society.

Basically, PPB is an initiative initiated by the Student Council of Dato' Onn College. Among the members of PPB are, the Student Council and student residents of Dato' Onn College. PPB is also supported by a non-governmental organization (NGO), Lightup Borneo.

 PPB main objective is to provide lights to the interior of Sabah, specifically Kampung Lumampau, Sipitang, Sabah.

In order to provide lights, a gravity microhydro generator has to be built to generate electricity to each houses at the village (estimated 7 houses). Hence, PPB aims to raise funds to build a gravity microhydro generator which will be installed at the river nearby the aimed village.



OBJECTIVES OF PPB :

 1.Power Solar Installation

a) Installing solar energy to illuminate the 'Learning Center' as well as the surrounding areas of Kampung Lumampau Sipitang.
b) Increase the capacity of electricity consumption to Kampung Lumampau Sipitang community.
c) Create a conducive environment for students in Kampung Lumampau Sipitang.
d) Add learning facilities at 'Learning Center' Kampung Lumampau Sipitang.

2. Academic Festival

a) Provide clear exposure to rural students especially after completing schooling.
b) Improve awareness of the importance of continuing education to Institutions of Higher Learning and Public University.
c) Enhance awareness and culture of knowledge among students and communities.
d) Empower student and leadership cooperation in assisting the development of Sabah youths especially rural students.

Before they went to Sabah, they were doing a few events to collect the money for the fund raising. The events conducted were Charity Fun Run, home cleaning, and book donation. Fortunately, those events has received encouraging responses from various parties.
