Lionel Messi - Footballing genius

Lionel Andres "Leo" Messi Cuccittini, born on 24 June 1987, is a professional footballer from Argentina who plays as a forward for FC Barcelona and the national team of Argentina. Often hailed as the greatest footballer of all time has many records to his name including a record-tying five ballon d'or.

Here are some of the few records held by the magician Leo Messi:


  • Only player to score 40+ club goals in 8 consecutive seasons
  • Most FIFA Ballon d'or awards -5 (shared with Cristiano Ronaldo)
  • Only player to score in 6 different club competitions in a season twice : 2011/12 and 2015/16
  • Guinness World Records title for most officical goals in one calender year : 91 goals (2012)

 And the list goes on and on.

He got his first career hatrrick at the age of 19 in a game against arch rivals Real Madrid C.F.

He got his first Ballon d'or at the age of 22 making him the youngest player to ever win the award. As mentioned before he has won a total of 5 Ballon d'or .




Messi has had tough luck Argentina national team though with facing defeat in the finals of FIFA world cup 2014 and two consecutive Copa America. 

Messi is now 30 years old and may very soon retire. Better enjoy his game while it lasts because we may never have a player like him ever again.
