DARJEELING-"THE QUEEN OF HILLS"





Darjeeling, a small town in West Bengal, India. The place i grew up in.



It is situated in the Lesser Himalayas at an elevation of 6,700 ft.

Darjeeling is best known for its tea which some believe to be the world's best tea, the beautiful views of Kanchenjunga the world's third highest mountain and the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, a UNESCO world heritage site.As I mentioned before, it is situated at an elevation of 6,700 ft,so the climate is temperate with wet summers caused by monsoon rains.The winters are very cold with January and February being the coldest months. the lowest recorded temperature was -5℃

The people of Darjeeling are known as Gorkhas, speaking Nepali as native language, form the majority which includes indigenous ethnic groups such as the Lepcha,Limbu,Rai,Gurung,Tamang,etc.

Darjeeling is one the most beautiful place in India and the food is great too.It is the place where my heart belongs.
